Grace Steurer’23 has always been fascinated with health, especially in terms of chronic health issues, and chose bioengineering as her focus area in the Integrative Engineering program. Her goal is to use the systems-thinking mindset, which provides a common language for understanding and modeling diverse systems across various fields within engineering and beyond, to analyze human, animal, and environmental health issues in graduate school and beyond.

Grace is a member of the varsity volleyball team, Oaks Leadership Committee, Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Society of Women Engineers, and Lafayette Outdoors Society.

She gained experience in the field of biomedical devices through an internship at Midwest Interventional Systems in Maple Grove, Minnesota. She also interned with the Kellyn Foundation in Tatamy, PA, under Dr. Meagan Grega, MD. There she learned how diet and lifestyle influence human health, and work to make healthy choices easier throughout lower income areas of the Lehigh Valley.

Outside of school, Grace loves the outdoors, whether hiking, camping, playing volleyball, swimming, gardening, or exploring. She also likes to practice yoga and cooking new recipes.
